Under no circumstances treatments will be carry on if hygiene is not up to standards.
Pubic hair removal has become an indispensable part of most women's beauty rituals, but when it comes to salon lingo it's easy to get confused by all the different bikini wax styles.
Here's how we do it at Zen aesthetics:
Hollywood
It involves complete removal of all of the pubic hair, from the front, between the legs, and between the buttocks. It’s the complete hair removal solution.
Brazilian
It's the removal of all hair front and back, except for a landing strip or a triangle on the top.
A hint of hair for those a bit scared of going completely bare!
G-string
If you’re looking for quite a bit of hair removal but not as much as a Brazillian, then the G-string wax is the one for you.
This wax involves the removal of the hairs higher into the sides of the bikini line as well as removing the hair from the bottom. Hair will remain on the labia in a long rectangular shape, giving you the best of both worlds; having pubic hair that doesn’t show!
Extended bikini
Similar to the bikini wax, the extended bikini wax is still nice 'n' natural, but with a little more of a neaten up around the top and sides of your pubes. You can keep your knickers on when you have this one done.
Standard bikini
The bikini line touch up is exactly as the name would suggest, a tidy up around the edges. A good option if you want to keep things on the natural side, but prefer a little more definition. Hair is removed from anywhere outside of a modest panty line - so around the tops of thighs and any hair above your knickers.
BEFORE WAXING CARE
It is just as important to take care of and prepare the area before a wax as it is to take care of it after a wax.
-
Trim the hair before your appointment. Longer hair can be more painful to wax.
-
Ensure your hair is at least 0.5cm long, so your beauty therapist can remove the hair without using a couple waxes. First time waxers should have hair growth of about 1.5cm.
-
Exfoliate the waxing area 24-48 hours before your appointment. This will keep the skin soft and smoother and prevent ingrown hairs.
-
Do not apply any deodorants, make-up, lotions, soaps, powders, perfumes or self-tanning products to the area to be waxed.
-
Take 1-2 paracetamol about 30 minutes before your appointment if you have never had a wax before or find the process painful.
WAXING AFTERCARE
After your waxing service, you may expect the area to be red, feel tender and tingle.
For the first 24 hours after a waxing service, avoid the following to prevent irritating the skin:
- Exercise, gyms and swimming.
- Sunbathing, sunbeds or any sunlight and UV exposure. Heat and sweat can issritate the waxed area and infect open follicles. Please remember to book your wax 2 days before you go on holiday, to allow the follicles enough time to close and the skin to calm down.
- Hot baths/showers, sauna and steam baths.
- Rubbing, scrubbing or exfoliating the waxed area.
- Applying products to the waxed areas such as deodorants, make-up, lotions, perfumes, self-tanning products, etc.
- tight fitted clothing that may cause friction to the waxed area.
To soothe and calm the skin you can regularly apply aloe vera gel. It will rehydrate and soothes the skin.
Remember that is important to keep the area clean and dry for 48h post treatment.
To ensure preventing ingrowing hairs, is best to gently exfoliate the areas 3-10 days after your waxing service, 2-3 times a week, followed by a nourishing moisturiser. This process will prevent ingrowing hairs and your next wax will be easier and a probably less painful.
